Glen Dhu Wind Park in Pictou County

I had a tour of completed Glen Dhu Wind Park recently; the alternative energy facility is the largest wind farm in Nova Scotia located on Browns Mountain in Pictou County. It covers an area of about twenty four hundred hectares of privately owned woodlot properties from various local residents in the Lismore and Baileys Brook areas.
The wind farm is fully operational, consisting of 27 wind turbines and produces enough power to run approximately 18,000 homes and also helps the local economy by providing additional income to land owners, it is expected that about $400,000 per year in royalties will be paid out, $8 million over the twenty year duration of the project.

How many Cyclists would it take to power a home?

How many Cyclists would it take to power a home?

Some people may be able to figure out how much energy their home uses in a typical average day simply by looking at their power bill, but to most people “watts and kilowatts” do not mean that much to them, so it can often be pretty hard to really put Energy Usage into everyday perspective for most.

Therefore in an effort to demonstrate which common appliances use the most energy, Baxi Ecogen have teamed up with Olympic and World Champion Cyclist Nicole Cooke to show us how much pedal power it takes her to power up a home.

Solar Heating Tubes

Solar Heating Tubes

Wind energy is preferred in many countries. Unfortunately, we continue not to use most of the energy given by the sun and we don’t stop polluting, even if we now know its harmful effects. So, it’s time to consider an environamentally favorable approach for supplying the energy, because many governments in the world agree to subsidize the costs for this.
