Planet People Launches “Who cares about this Planet?” Challenge
Planet People, the manufacturer of innovative and sustainable cleaning products, is proud to launch the Who cares about this Planet? Challenge, a video contest urging both individuals and groups to challenge convention and inspire environmental change. The Challenge asks for submissions of creative and innovative environmentally sustainable project ideas that can make a sustainable impact within their communities. To accept the Challenge, contestants need to create and upload a video of their idea to iQ’s Facebook page, where 10 finalists will be selected by an Advisory Committee.

The TD Friends of the Environment Foundation (TD FEF) is a national organization created by the TD Bank Financial Group to fund local projects that are dedicated to preserving & protecting the environment of our country in their own communities. The TD Friends of the Environment Foundation has provided more than 53 million dollars to help support over 19 thousand environmental projects in various communities all across Canada.
All the money that the foundation raises is spent directly into in the communities in which it was donated from. By donating to the cause, people are enabling the funding of projects all across Canada that in turn makes a difference in their own communities.
Canon Envirothon Environmental Competition
The North American Canon Envirothon is taking place this week at Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick. This event is North America’s largest environmental competition for high school students and has been held since 1988 to inspire teenagers to pursue careers in natural resources and increase awareness of the environment. Each year during the spring, students from all across the United States and Canada that are passionate about the environment face off in regional Envirothon competitions.

new Bioplastics symbol Chosen
The winner for the Cereplast “Bioplastics Symbol” Design contest was announced last week. Cereplast, is a leading manufacturer of compostable and biodegradable plant based plastic materials held the contest in order to find a new symbol to represent bioplastics and was inspired by the 1970 contest that was used to produce the now famous image we all know (the three green arrows) as the emblem of recycling.

Nationwide Competition Announced to Design Bioplastics Symbol
A nationwide graphic design competition titles ‘Make Your Mark’ has been launched to select a symbol that will represent bioplastics. The recycling symbol was similarly created in 1970 through a similar competition. The idea of the new symbol is to indicate that a product is made from green, bio-based material, and not petroleum-based material. Gary Anderson who designed the won the original competition that produced the globally recognized recycling symbol still seen on recycled and recyclable products today over 41 years ago.
