It is great to see some the big car manufacturers finally starting to see the light and begin to produce cars that are much more environmentally friendly then they have been building over the past few years. And I am sure if you have been following our blog then you may have noticed that we have become a bit of a fan with the Nissan electric car known as the LEAF. So, today I thought we would compare the popular American built Chevy Volt with the Nissan LEAF to see how they match up against one another.

In a recent study done by the Goddard Institute for Space Studies, they identified one of the largest overall contributing sources to global warming was road transportation. Cars, trucks and buses are all major contributors as they release greenhouse gases and various other pollutants that promote warming while also not emitting enough aerosols to counteract it. So in other words, the more vehicles on the roadways, then the worse the problem of global warming is going to be.

One way to conserve computer energy usage is by server consolidation. You can achieve a very tangible energy reduction by replacing a large quantity of computers with smaller, more energy efficient units. The upside is that the new generation of compact computers are not only more energy efficient, but they are more powerful, as well. Also, consider replacing desktop PCs with notebooks. This move alone can save you as much as 75% or more on your computer energy costs.

My wife and I were both pretty shocked on how dirty the filters in these little machines get every few months and then imagine that we breathe in all that crap in the air everyday. So we are happy to spend a few dollars every day to make our kids have better air to breathe, we can not control the air outside, but certainly can make an effort to make the air in our home safer.
